The Vendue - 19 Vendue Range
In the fifth installment of its series of group exhibitions, The Vendue, Charleston’s Art Hotel, announces that it will feature works of 22 alumni and faculty of the esteemed New York Academy of Art in a show titled "From the Academy." The exhibition is scheduled to run this year from May through September.
Located in TriBeCa, The New York Academy of Art was founded in 1982 by the legendary Andy Warhol along with a group of other artists, academics and art patrons to rekindle interest in the figurative arts, and houses the nation’s first graduate program in figurative art. Since its founding, the academy has earned a sterling reputation by helping launch the careers of such notable artists as Alyssa Monks, Will Kurtz and Michèle Fenniak.
Robert Lange Studios (RLS) in Charleston collaborated with New York-based curator and art advisor Rick Davidman, who organized the original submissions for the show. From those submissions, RLS owners Robert and Megan Lange narrowed the selection down to the final 22 artists whose works in various media will be included in the exhibition.
The series of revolving exhibits at The Vendue has become one of Charleston’s most anticipated visual arts events, drawing admiration from hotel guests and other visitors to the Holy City, as well as local art aficionados and collectors.
On Thursday, May 26, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., The Vendue will welcome the public to a festive complimentary opening reception to toast the exhibition while viewing the works. The reception will include passed hors d’oeuvres and a signature cocktail.
