The Charleston Artist Guild Gallery is pleased to present New Perspectives, featuring the surrealistic photography and digital art creations of H. Scott Cushing, a Brooklyn-born/Daniel Island, SC, based photographer and graphic artist. Scott is the featured artist for the month of October. The exhibit will run from October 1st through October 31st with an opening reception on Friday, October 5th.
From student-athlete to hippie to Navy seaman; traveler, husband, father, friend and artist...Scott has lived in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Westchester, Florida & South Carolina, and has traveled through the Caribbean and Europe. At his former home on Long Island, NY, his love of the beach and ocean took him to Jones Beach where, over the past 30 years, the serene beauty of nature during the fall and winter provided endless inspiration for his work. With New York City a short trip from his home, the frenzied pace and unique cultures of "the city" additionally inform his aesthetic, creating a juxtaposition uniquely his own. His work has been displayed at juried art shows in the Lincoln Center, Westport and Mystic, CT, as well as a private show at Agora Gallery in Chelsea, NY.
Upon relocating to Daniel Island, SC, nearly a decade ago, Cushing continues to look to nature for inspiration, drawing upon the unique beauty of the Charleston landscape.
Please join us for the opening reception, which is open to the public, Friday, October 5th, at the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery from 5-8pm. The gallery is located at 160 East Bay St., and is open daily from 11am to 6pm. Sales made at the gallery support the non-profit Guild Community Outreach work.
