The Charleston Artist Guild Gallery is pleased to present Life Paths, a collection of new works by award-winning artist Kay Moffitt. The exhibit will run from July 1st through July 31st with an Opening Reception on Friday, July 6th from 5-8 PM.
Kay’s work is often described as conveying an air of mystery. Beneath her brush the commonplace becomes captivating - each image brimming with unanswered questions, stories untold, and secret paths that lead to uncertain ends.
In Life Paths, Kay immortalizes subjects from all walks of life on canvas in equal regard, giving light to those who frequently go unseen, and compelling the viewer to consider the depths of character in each.
Her color choices are often more tonal, but even the moodiest work will have touches of color. In her own words, “I find painting the gritty captures my interest more than the pretty aspects of life.”
Kay was recently awarded First Place in the Charleston Artists Guild 64th Annual Members Exhibition for her painting Welcome Home. Over the years it has been her privilege to study with accomplished artists such as Richard Schmid, Sherrie McGraw, David Leffel, Scott Christensen, Quang Ho and others. Kay has participated in several group shows and exhibitions in Pennsylvania, Illinois and South Carolina. In her 10 years living in the Chicago area she was an active participant in programs at the Palette and Chisel, Evanston Art Center and the North Shore Art League. She is a member of the Charleston Artists Guild, the Mount Pleasant Artists Guild and Oil Painters of America.
