Maps and Madeira: A Commemoration of Colonial South Carolina, Postponed

Fireproof Building 100 Meeting St., Charleston SC |$35 general admission, $25 members

“Take a visual stroll through the Province of Carolina as depicted by early cartographers while you sip Madeira, a fortified wine that was particularly popular in colonial times. From John Speed’s “1675 Map of Carolina” which shows the colony occupying most of the southeastern United States, to Sam Wyly’s 1764 map of Catawba lands and early Indian trading routes, these rarely-seen documents vividly illustrate the impact of European settlement. Wine and refreshments will be served.”
