Aleksander & Lyuba Titovets: Celebration of Life

Friday, November 5th 2021 - Tuesday, November 30th 2021

Friday, Nov. 5, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Painting Demonstration Saturday, Nov. 6, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Ella W. Richardson Fine Art celebrates 20 years as Charleston’s premiere fine art destination. The anniversary exhibition features the works of Aleksander and Lyuba Titovets who have been showing with her since opening on November 2, 2001. The gallery is dedicated to bringing the finest established and emerging artists to its clientele, offering a variety of styles and subject matter from regional, American and international artists. Located in historic downtown Charleston, the gallery is housed in an elegant building that has been impeccably renovated to display three rooms of artwork.

The gallery is the perfect setting for Aleksander’s sweeping landscapes and grand architecture and Lyuba’s figurative work and still lifes. Viewers marvel at their artistic skills and delight in their work for its richness. Their subject matter is often Russian-inspired, whether a snow-blanketed forest (Aleksander) or a scene imbued with folkloric imagery (Lyuba). Their art captures the imagination and nuance of life itself.

Influenced by the past and inspired by the future, Aleksander and Lyuba’s work has allowed them to share their lives and views on art. Both are master artists and excellent art instructors. They met while studying in St. Petersburg, Russia. Painting and teaching alongside each other, they moved to the United States in 1992.

Arriving in the Southwest, they were fortunate to find recognition and success right from the start - winning the El Paso International Competition year after year for almost a decade. Their work elevated the quality of the show to an unparalleled level. During this time they continued to teach at the El Paso Museum of Art and at El Paso Community College. Their art soon resonated nationally as they were guests at Great American Artists in Cincinnati, OH, as well as the Texas Masters Exhibit which they have been part of since 2009.

Through national exhibitions and competitions such as Oil Painters of America, Lyuba and Aleksander's works have shown all over the country, and with the Art in U.S Embassies program, they have been seen throughout the world.

Aleksander’s portrait of First Lady Laura Bush opened the First Ladies Gallery in the Smithsonian Museum, Washington D.C., in 2011. He also had the honor of receiving the Crystal Eagle, a recognition from fellow artists in the Artists of America National Invitational Exhibition in Denver, CO.

Lyuba’s work was Best of Show in the Annual International Miniature Art Exhibition in Florida which took her work to Westminster Abbey, London. Her name is included in the Archive of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington DC, an honor recognizing her years and dedication to the art world.

Their art can be found in public and private collections throughout the world including the National Parks headquarters, Proctor and Gamble Corporation, Sam Walton family, Canada Bell, His Majesty the King of Spain, actress Sophia Loren, and the Yevtushenko Museum to name just a few.

Their studio is home to not only their own work but their students’. The Titovets School of Art has been a source of knowledge for hundreds since 1999.
