March Artist of the Month: Edward Rice

March 1- 31, 2022

Wednesday through Saturday 11-4pm

Helena Fox Fine Art introduced an Artist of the Month program at the beginning of 2022 to highlight a single artist in our gallery each month and get to know them beyond the published biographies. For the month of March we will feature Edward Rice and we will have new work on view in the gallery through March 31, 2022.

Mr. Rice began his art career as a young man selling pencil drawings of houses in his neighborhood in North Augusta, S.C. He sold them for $5 a piece. His passion for creating would continue through his teenage years and eventually lead him to Augusta University where he studied under acclaimed artist Freeman Schoolcraft. Mr. Schoolcraft would continue to be an influence in Ed’s career and he would eventually marry Schoolcraft’s daughter. Most recently he was featured in an exhibit at the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. His work is housed in six permanent museum collections including the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, S.C. as well as the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, La.

New work will be on view in the gallery from March 1-March 31st Wednesday through Saturday 11-4pm.
